A delegation of angry Alandale Parkway residents confronted the Board of Selectmen last night, demanding to know why street acceptance procedures—designated as a “top priority” a full year prior—remained stalled a decade after developer’s performance bonds were released.
Ten-Year Delay in Street Acceptance and Sidewalk Erosion
Led by resident William McCoy of 61 Alandale Parkway, about a dozen homeowners voiced bitter frustrations regarding deteriorated infrastructure and unfulfilled municipal commitments. McCoy questioned the town’s administrative practice of releasing developer bonds prematurely, noting that bonds for Alandale Parkway were discharged 10 years ago while formal street acceptance remains unfinalized, leaving upkeep entirely to property owners.
“The sidewalks are so gross, I don’t know why we’re paying taxes there anymore,” echoed Vincent Cabana of 73 Alandale Parkway, who also cited alarming safety hazards involving gunfire close to residential properties that police reportedly dismissed as permissible on private land.
