Photography Exhibit: Boston and Cambridge Reworked

Join us to see images of our region’s changing cityscapes, photographed by Peter Fougère. Trained at the Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Peter Fougère is a photographer and carpenter who has documented the past few decades of urban transformation in glorious and artistic photographs. The Day House will host an opening reception on Saturday September 10th, 5:00-7:00, and will be open Sunday afternoons from 1:00-3:00 through October 10th.

Indigenous Presence in the Neponset Valley

Saturday September 17th at 11 am
This in-person talk will be held outside, in the yard of the Day House. Thomas Green, Indigenous Educator/Artist & Tribal Council Member of the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag will speak about indigenous presence around the Neponset River. All are welcome to this free event. Please bring your own folding chair or picnic blanket or be in touch with us about your specific needs. (Rain location: Day House interior)

Norwood History Discussions

Throughout 2022 we are holding book discussions focused on Norwood history, every few months on a Tuesday evening, 7:00 – 8:30. The March meeting will be held via zoom. Please email info@norwoodhistoricalsociety.org to indicate your interest in joining.

November 15 — A. Heppler, McCarthyism in the Suburbs
December 20 — W. Everett, Tales of Tiot

Monthly Book Group

Our monthly book group will resume in the fall, meeting online at 7:00 pm on the First Tuesday of the month. Stay tuned for next year’s reading list.

Norwood Neighborhood Tours: Summer Tuesday evenings, 6:00-7:30

Tour of the Day House: Sunday, June 26th, 1:00 – 3:00 pm 

Join us for this great opportunity to see the house’s beautiful interiors dating to the 1890s and diverse items in the society’s collection. We request a $5 donation for each person; tours are free for members of the Norwood Historical Society.

March 6th 1872-2022: 150th Anniversary Celebration

Online Reception at 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 6th

Our event is modeled on the reception held at the Day House in 1872. We will be broadcasting from the Day House and hope you’ll join us via zoom to raise a glass! We look forward to reliving key moments of the community’s progress towards independence and share material of the era from the Society’s collections.
