THIRTY-FIVE BANDS, ORCHESTRAS TO PLAY

Leonard W. Grant, chairman of the committee for the Massachusetts State Music Festival in this town next Saturday, announces that the final entries have been accepted. Thirty-five bands and orchestras are listed, and more than 2000 school children will take part. The capacity of the five halls at the Junior and Senior High Schools, the Norwood and Guild Theatres and the State Armory will be taxed to their capacity. In the parade, through the town the participants will be escorted by the Norwood Legion Band, champion of the State.

During the morning, the competition will take place in halls, and in the afternoon the procession will form at the Junior High School building and pro• ceed to the Senior High School. Edwin Franko Goldman, prominent band leader of New York, will take part in the afternoon exercises. Chief Sullivan of the Police Department will have a full force of men on hand to divert traffic and guide visitors 1 n making their way about town. A lunch will be served to the guests and officials in the Senior High School a committee under the supervision of Miss Agnes M. Bridges.

Waltham Senior High School Band will play on Braves Field on Friday afternoon to advertise the carnival. Two scholarships of $100 each have been received from the C. C. Birchard Company, and Carl Fisher, Inc, to send two from the winning class A band or orchestra to the Eastern Music Camp at Belgrade Lakes, ME, for six weeks of instruction. Cups and awards have been received from Herbert M.Plimpton, Ex-Gov Frank G. Allen, Mrs Leighton Johnson, Mrs Frank A. Morrill, Mrs Clara Berwick Walker and Norwood Hospital.

The list of entires consists of: Brockton High School, Fitcha burg High School, Worcester Classical H. S., House of Angel Guardian, Ludlow High School, Malden Lincoln Junior High, Monson High School, Quincy High School, Rockiand High School, Springfield Technical H. S., Waltham High School, Malden Beebe Junior High, Malden Browne Junior High, Lowell High School, Hardwick High School, Boston Farm and Trade School, Gloucester High, Lawrence High, Revere High.

Orchestras: Agawam Junior-Senior High, Attleboro High, Brockton High, Ludlow High, Norwood High, Norwood Junior High, Quincy High, Quincy Junior High, Springfield Technical H. S., Waltham South Junior, Pepperell High, Lawrence High, Bourne High, Lowell High, Arlington High, Reading High.
