Title was conveyed to the new owners of Westover on Tuesday of this week when final papers were passed and the deeds placed on record in the Norfolk Registry of Deeds at Dedham, it was announced today by Atty Bernard P. Rome, trustee in bankruptcy.
The passing of title on behalf of the new owners, Leo Wolf, Max Wasserman, and others, marked the end of weeks of an arduous title search.
The agreement to purchase the 650 acres in Norwood and Westwood, which was the bulk of the properties which had been placed in bankruptcy, was signed on January 23 of this year. Three people began the title search the last week in February and the job has been going on steadily ever since.
While those familiar with Westover and the dogged fight waged by George F. Willett to save it would not go so far as to state that nothing could happen now to upset the sale, it was generally conceded in town legal circles that the transfer is now definite and final. There will, however, be considerably more litigation, such as challenging the amounts due the various mortgagees.
