The tax rate in Norwood for 1968 will be $76, a $4 increase from 1967, James T. Flaherty, chairman of the board of assessors, announced yesterday. In their annual budget report issued in May, the finance commission estimated the rate would rise between $4 and $6. Although the town meeting approved expenditures of over $11 million, the increase has been held at $4 due to the application of $3 million additional valuation and $300,000 from free cash, Mr. Flaherty explained in his report. Norwood‘s total valuation now exceeds $73 million. The new tax rate has already been approved by Cleo F. Jaillet, chairman of the Massachusetts tax commission.
