For the first time in nine years, Norwood’s tax rate has decreased. James T. Flaherty of the Board of Assessors announced the new rate at $63 per $1,000 of valuation, a reduction of $1 from the 1960 rate of $64.

Norwood’s total valuation has now surpassed $53 million, boosted significantly by an exceptional year of commercial and industrial construction in 1960. These new developments added $3.25 million to the town’s assessed valuation, helping drive the tax rate downward.
