A new concept in apartment living was introduced to New England last fall when Windsor Gardens started construction in Norwood.
Windsor Gardens residents enjoy the use of a private club. They are invited to become members of this nonprofit club. The facilities include a magnificent free-form Olympic size swimming pool, two tennis courts, two badminton courts, shuffleboard, and barbecue facilities—all set within a 7-acre park on the premises.
The first six buildings, totaling 132 apartments, are nearing completion. Six additional buildings will be ready for occupancy this Fall. When completed, this development will have 676 one and two-bedroom units. To preserve the country setting, only 16 percent of the 43-acre site will be utilized by the 22 apartment buildings and ample off-street with assigned spaces for each apartment.
All apartments are separated by a soundproof blanket in the walls and ceilings. Each apartment is individually heated and air-conditioned. Parquet floors, food paneling and full picture walls of glass with draperies are featured in the living room. Each apartment has a private balcony or terrace. Telephone and electrical outlets are located in abundance and each building provides a central TV outlet for maximum reception.
All electric kitchens feature a built-in dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator, freezer and range—in matching colors and set off by birch cabinets. A buffet bar off the dining area is framed with louvered shutters.
Each building boasts a unique recreation room—a place where residents can entertain friends or just relax, laundry facilities, and extra storage space.
