
Banquet For Employees Precedes Debut Here Of ‘Store Of Tomorrow’
Nearly 100 employees of the A. & P. Co. attended a banquet held last night at the Tyot Room, Lewis’ Restaurant, marking the completion of remodeling operations at A. & P.’s new ‘Store of Tomorrow’’ at Cottage and Central streets, Norwood.
The new store was opened ‘this morning with Sture Nelson, Norwood Selectman, among the dignitaries attending.
Selectman Nelson was a guest at the banquet when he commended A & P for their completely modern retail food store here which features “one stop” shopping and which gives employment to more than 30 people.
Joseph W. Kelly, vice-president of A & P in charge of operations in Greater Boston, expressed the company’s appreciation for the excellent. spirit with which both the public and the employees have’ carried on during the extensive alterations. He told the employees that the future holds tremendous opportunities for them for advancement.
Roland Deslaurier, manager of the Norwood store, acted as toastmaster. Other speakers included Sylvester McNeil, meat department head: Charles A. Whipple, assistant store manager, and Winslow Conatnt head of the dairy department.
