State Representative Gregory Sullivan (D-Norwood) formally presented Massachusetts House of Representatives citations to Francis and Lillian Shumski of Dean Street, Norwood, celebrating a remarkable and unprecedented milestone in veterans’ history.
A First in DAV History
Francis Shumski assumed the role of state commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), while his wife, Lillian, stepped into leadership as the new Women’s Auxiliary commander.
This dual leadership marks the first time in the entire history of the DAV that a husband and wife have occupied both top state commander posts simultaneously, bringing immense pride to their Norwood neighborhood and the Commonwealth.
