Defaulted Bail of $1000 on Abduction Charge

Defaulting hit bail of $1000 when his case came up to the Dedham District Court yesterday morning, Antonio Tores of 30 Sturtevant Ave escaped and the Norwood police are searching for him. Tores is charged with the abduction of 13-year-old Mary DeCicco of 30 Sturtevant Ave.

Tores was arrested Saturday evening at the home of a friend In South Norwood by officer John Nee. He was bailed by Manuel Gomes of South Norwood and was to have appeared In the Dedham District Court yesterday morning to answer to a charge of abduction.

After being bailed, Tores left town and is probably In hiding somewhere In Massachusetts. Mary DeCicco, daughter of Bruno DeCicco, a pupil In the Junior High School, disappeared from home Oct 13 and Tores, who was a boarder in the DeCicco home, was also missing.

The police were notified by the girl’s parents and every effort was made to locate Tores and the child. Finally, a clue led to Westport, where Mary was found In the home of a friend of Tores. She was brought back to Norwood by officers William Barrett and P. N. Curran.

When Tores arrived In Westport and found that she had been taken back to Norwood, he left for Norwood, where he was arrested Sunday afternoon. He gave his age as 23 years, but the police believe him to be about 35.

Although the charge of abduction was preferred against him, It was thought by the police that more serious entrees would be preferred when he was arraigned In court.
