Police Arrest Eleven Following Incidents at Railroad Ave and Pumping Station-August 26, 1977

All suspects were scheduled to appear in Dedham District Court today to face an array of charges.

First Incident: Railroad Avenue Parking Lot

The initial disturbance occurred at approximately 9:45 p.m. when Patrolman Leon Padduck responded to a report of individuals drinking in the parking lot near the Stop and Shop. According to police reports, when Patrolman Padduck arrived in his cruiser, a member of the group hurled an open can of beer at the vehicle while others shouted obscenities and refused police orders to disperse.

After calling for backup, officers arrested seven individuals at the scene:

• Mary C. Walsh, 19, of 33 Press Ave., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Clifford L. Maloney, 21, of 548 Nichols St., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Russell D. Clinton, 22, of 108 Ellis Ave., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Dale Harvey, 23, of 244 Hill St., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Joseph R. Basile, 22, of 108 Ellis Ave., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly, refusing to move for a police officer, and violating the town drinking bylaw.
• Paul E. Santor, 22, of 11 Bird Road, Norwood — Charged with being disorderly, refusing to move for a police officer, and malicious destruction of town property (involving a police station cell block).
• Dennis Famolle, 20, of 159 Jefferson Drive, Norwood — Charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (a beer bottle).

Second Incident: Ellis Pumping Station on Route 1

Around midnight, police received a call for assistance from the Millis Security Co. regarding a large group of youths drinking near the Ellis pumping station on Route 1. Arriving officers found a security employee locked in a confrontation with roughly 20 youths, while 30 others lingered nearby.

Following the arrival of backup, police arrested four individuals:

• David A. Mowatt, 22, of 346 Washington St., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Clifford L. Maloney, 21, of 548 Nichols St., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer. (Note: Maloney was arrested in both incidents).
• John A. Araby, 19, of 108 Ellis Ave., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Christopher C. Basile, 19, of 108 Ellis Ave., Norwood — Charged with being disorderly and refusing to move for a police officer.
• Joseph E. Jenkins, 25, of 36 Harrow Road, Norwood — Charged with being disorderly, refusing to move for a police officer, larceny under $100, and malicious damage to personal property.
