Corrective Measures Target Long-Standing Controversy At Elementary Site

Corrective measures designed to resolve persisting drainage problems at the Oldham Elementary School are scheduled to be completed by the end of this week.

The ongoing drainage difficulties at the new school site had been the subject of a long controversy in discussions of the Oldham School building program for several years.

Resident Engineer James Brown reported that the corrective measures are well under way and that the work should be finished by the end of the week. Additionally, Building Committee Chairman Joseph Olshan explained that efforts are being made to check into whatever damage might have been caused by leaks in the building’s structure. As part of this investigative process, a section of the roof will be removed to check the insulation and casings.

The building committee still has several projects to administer before its work is officially completed. When these immediate drainage matters are resolved, the committee will concentrate on completing the landscaping of the site and the enclosing of the school area with fencing. The school’s baseball field layout also must be done before the site can be considered fully finished.
