“Sox”, a Dober-Mann Pinscher owned by Mr. Guy Gibbon of 86 Saunders Road, was killed in action as a war dog in the service of the Quartermaster Corps, and has been awarded a certificate of merit by the U. S. Army.

Sox entered the service on October 9, 1942. and was two years old at the time. It is believed he was killed in Germany. His owner, Mr. Gibbons, was the chief of air raid wardens on the committee of public safety during the war.

The certificate of merit reads as follows: “The War Dog “Sox” Tatoo No. 83b, having died while serving with the Armed Forces of the United States of America, is hereby awarded this Certificate of Merit.” It was signed by the Quartermaster General.
