Thomas C. Lydon assumed his duties as Chief of Police here today. Born in Norwood, Chief Lydon was appointed to the police department in 1915 and in 1932 became a sergeant.
He gained prominence in 1932 by the successful investigation and prosecution of the murder of a young South Norwood girl. He completed a course with the FBI.
Chief Lydon is married and lives at 188 Prospect St. He has four children, one of whom. Martin J was shot down over Switzerland during 8th Air Force operations against Germany in the war.
