Hundreds of Norwood families who purchase milk from H. P. Hood and Sons were welcomed as special guests at the company’s newly expanded and modernized Boston milk plant during “Norwood Night” on Thursday, June 4. The event was part of a weeklong series of Open House evenings held at the company’s Boston headquarters, each designed to give customers from surrounding communities a firsthand look at what Hood describes as one of the most advanced milk processing facilities in the country.

Norwood residents were encouraged to bring friends and family members to observe the full journey of milk from the farms to the consumer’s doorstep. Guides stationed throughout the plant explained each stage of the operation, demonstrating how milk is received, processed, bottled, and prepared for delivery. The tour was intended to show customers the scale, cleanliness, and efficiency of the plant’s equipment and procedures.

At the conclusion of the tour, visitors were treated to refreshments that featured Hood ice cream along with other dairy products produced at the facility. The company emphasized hospitality throughout the evening, ensuring that guests had ample opportunity to ask questions and view the plant’s new improvements.

The Norwood delegation was organized by William E. Harding, manager of the Hood Norwood milk branch, who headed the committee responsible for coordinating the event. He was assisted by John Gavin, assistant manager, who helped oversee arrangements for the evening’s activities.
