This Day in Norwood History-January 7, 1944-Lt. Madeline S. Doherty at 7th AAF Base in Central Pacific

7TH AAF BASE IN THE CENTRAL PACIFIC, Dec. 28, 1943—Lt. Madeline S. Doherty (standing, third from right), member of an air evacuation squadron recently assigned to the 7th AAF in the central Pacific, watches a calisthenics demonstration. The squadron of flight nurses participated in the evacuation of wounded following the Gilbert Island campaign. Lt. Doherty received her training at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, Boston, and enlisted at Fort Monmouth, N. J., in October, 1942. She is the daughter of Thomas P. Doherty, 85 Hill street.
