Sgt. Rafuse landed with assault troops on “D” day at Guam, but was wounded on the beach. He was evacuated to a Naval Hospital. Recently he returned to join his outfit.


SOMEWHERE lN THE PACIFIC (Delayed) — Marine Sgt. Raymond B Rafuse, Jr., o£ 345 Winter street, Norwood, has been promoted to his present rank from corporal.

Overseas for more than two years, the Norwood Marine is a veteran of the Bougainville campaign. He Has served nearly a year as chief of his battalion message center.

A graduate of Norwood High School, Rafuse was employed by the Winslow Brothers and Smith Company before entering the Marine Corps in January, 1942.
