Grant and Mustang Offense Explode for 28 First-Quarter Points in Bay State League Romp
Displaying an unstoppable big-play offense, the Norwood High School football team cruised to a dominant 55-0 Bay State League shutout over Needham on the road Saturday afternoon. Senior quarterback A.J. Grant put on a passing clinic, tossing four touchdown passes and racking up 330 passing yards despite being pulled from the game early in the third quarter.
The visiting Mustangs established complete control right out of the gate, erupting for 28 points in the first quarter alone against the Rockets (5-2) before coasting to victory to improve their record to 4-2.
“All year long we’ve been a big-play offense and yesterday things just clicked,” Norwood head coach Joe Smith remarked after the game. “Unfortunately for Needham, everything we tried worked. This was a big game and hopefully we have some momentum.”
Balanced Attack Powers Norwood Past Rockets
While Grant carved up the Needham secondary through the air, senior fullback Tim Needham anchored the ground game by punching in two rushing touchdowns for the Mustangs. The overwhelming offensive output left the Rockets with no answers as Norwood’s defense completed the shutout performance.
