Superintendent of Schools Dr. Philip O. Coakley announced that registration for new students in the Norwood public school system will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. daily from August 26 through August 30.
All public schools across grades 1 through 12, along with special education classes, are scheduled to open for the new academic year on September 4, while kindergarten classes will commence on September 5. Parents are required to present birth and immunization certificates at the time of registration or prior to student admission.
Ahead of the student return, incoming instructional staff will participate in the sixth annual two-day orientation institute on August 28 and 29 at the Charles J. Prescott School. The program features panel discussions led by public school administrators, directors, and supervisors focusing on educational philosophy, curriculum content, and time allocations, complemented by a guided bus tour of the town. The orientation activities are co-coordinated by James R. Donovan, assistant superintendent at the secondary level, and Umberto V.C. Napoleone, assistant superintendent at the elementary level.
