Town leaders contrasted their support for Sahra against the rejected fast-food project, citing traffic management and community preferences. “A Middle Eastern restaurant is catering to a need in the town. People don’t want another fast-food restaurant on Route 1 but this is different… I’m happy and proud to support it,” said Selectman Chairman Gary Lee. Conversely, Selectman Joseph Curran cast the lone dissenting vote, maintaining that any dining establishment at the congested intersection would worsen traffic. “I don’t think there’s much of a difference between that and Taco Bell,” Curran argued. “It was my hope that some retail store of some description would move in there.”

Malouf, 35, brings extensive catering experience from venues across Boston and Brockton to his first independent restaurant venture. Designed to seat up to 126 patrons, Sahra will offer quality sit-down dining, with Malouf pledging, “We want to provide a comfortable setting for people to enjoy what they’re eating… not something just dumped into a dish and thrown at the customer.” Renovations are underway with an anticipated opening within ten weeks.
