The Norwood Hospital Auxiliary recently paid heartfelt tribute to 132 junior volunteers, affectionately known as “candystripers,” recognizing their dedicated service and countless hours contributed to patient care and hospital operations.
Annual Service Awards and Certificates
During the recognition ceremony, certificates and prestigious service pins were awarded based on the total number of volunteer hours each student logged in support of hospital staff and patients.
Local youth from Norwood who earned recognition for their volunteer service include:
- Nancy Barrett, Suzanne Barrett, Greta Baskin, Carmen Belur, Colleen Brady, Annette Capasso, and Theresa Chisholm.
- Doreen Cloherty, Kathy Conley, Moira Corrigan, Cathleen Croke, Kathy Daniel, Susan Daniel, and Paul DiMattia.
- Patricia Doherty, Bette Drake, Patricia Drake, Pat Drummey, Joan Eagan, Patricia Fallon, and Susan Fanning.
- Pam Farrell, Michelle Fetherston, Mary Beth Folan, Darlene Foley, Eileen Foley, Christine Gantert, and Nancy Garrity.
- June Harding, Anne Hegarty, Karen Henry, Mary Hynes, Jane Jansen, Debbie Jones, and Lynne Kavolius.

Hospital administrators praised the young volunteers for their invaluable assistance across various departments, emphasizing that the dedication of the candystriper program remains a cornerstone of community support for Norwood Hospital.
