Forty or more invited guests witnessed a dream come true for 75-year-old Carl A. Johnson, owner of Norwood Auto Company, at the recent grand opening of his new showroom and garage facility at the Nahatan Street traffic circle. Several top General Motors executives, including George Elges, GM vice president and Cadillac Motor Division general manager, helped to mark what is also Mr. Johnson‘s 50th anniversary as a Cadillac dealer. “It is a testimonial to this man’s dedication to the automobile industry,” one of his associates said of the occasion.
The new Cadillac showroom for Norwood Auto Company, marking its 50th anniversary, was the scene of grand opening festivities with, left to right, H. B. Brawner, superintendent in charge of Cadillac manufacturing; H. J. Hollywood, assistant general sales manager for the east; Ted Hopkins, Cadillac general sales manager; Stephen Huntington, owner’s grandson; George Elges, General Motors vice president Cadillac motor division general manager, and Carl A. Johnson, owner. Mr. Johnson‘s grandson, Stephen Huntington, was by his grandfather’s side and although he is only a junior at Westwood High School, he plans to enter into the business himself. Stephen, incidentally, drives his own Cadillac, vintage 1951, which has travelled 90,000 miles. The new showroom will have a public open house Wednesday and will officially open its doors for business Monday.
