Parents and friends of the Prescott PTA were served a special entertainment treat at their fourth meeting of the year, on Monday evening, April 2, when a chorus of boys and girls from the Sixth Grade, and the Fifth and Sixth Grade Combined Class, presented a program of songs from the Broadway Shows. The youngsters’ “top-notch” performance brought a rousing ovation from the audience.

Robert O’Donnell announced the program, and the production was directed by Mrs. Shirley Johnson, with assistance provided by Miss Joan Hanley , and Mr. William Kenny.

A fitting presentation of $65 was made to the Sixth Grade for their annual outing by Mr. Charles Seaverns, President of the PTA, during the evening.

The program included the title song from “Camelot,” “Dites-Moi” from South Pacific, “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, “What’s New At The Zoo” from DO RE Mi, “The Rain In Spain” from My Fair Lady, “I Remember It Well” from Gigi, and “Climb Every Mountain” from the Sound of Music.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the performance of the sixth-grade students, who sang the following specially composed lyrics to the tune of “I Remember It Well,” a fitting valedictory for their years at Prescott School.

I REMEMBER IT WELL
The teachers set a steady pace From nine to three of work to face.
Ah yes! I remember It well.
The fire drills on freezing days. “It’s good for you,’’ they used to say
Ah yes! I remember it well.
It started out for us at the early age of five.
To reach for college marks we will all strive.
It will be hard, but we will try To reach our goal as years go by. Ah yes! I remember It well.
How often I’ve thought of that Friday, Monday night
“When we had our last rendez-vou
And somehow I’ve foolishly wondered If you might
By some chance be thinking of it too.
We did a play by Humperdinck.
It was all right, or so we think
Ah yes! I remember it well
The book reports, the spelling bees.
Arithmetic and A.B.C’s.
Ah yes! I remember It well
Though we will travel on to many higher grades
We will cherish all our friendships made.
We won’t forget our Prescott School
Nor those who taught the “Golden Rule.”
Ah yes! I remember It well.
