Metcalf’s ice house on Flax Pond, near Norwood’s pumping station, was burned down on Wednesday morning, between one and two o’clock.

The fire is supposed to be the work of an incendiary. The building was burned flat. It was fully insured with the Thos. E. Clary Ins. Co.. 3 and will likely be paid in full.

Some of the machinery may be made available for use, but the building and contents, although congealed water, could not withstand the ravages of the fire king.

An Advertiser scribe drove by the building shortly after twelve o’clock, and everything was quiet along the pond. An investigation will be made, and the cause of the fire ascertained if possible.
