The Rev. Ferdinand V. Miszkin, 62, pastor of St. Peter’s Polish Church on St. Joseph Avenue, passed away unexpectedly Saturday night at Norwood Hospital.
Born in Cambridge, Father Miszkin pursued his theological studies at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton and was ordained in 1937 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston by Cardinal O’Connell. Over the course of his dedicated ministry, he served as a curate at several parishes across Massachusetts, including St. Michael’s Church in West Lynn, Holy Trinity Church in Lowell, and St. Monica’s Church in South Boston. In 1955, he was appointed pastor of St. Peter’s in Norwood, where he served faithfully for over 16 years.
Father Miszkin is survived by a brother, Zigmund Miszkin of Brockton, and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Pasiuk and Mrs. Jennie Daniloff, both of Brockton.
Calling hours were held with Father Miszkin lying in state at St. Peter’s Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Paul H. Kraw Funeral Home located at 1248 Washington St. A solemn funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Church, followed by burial.
