Eventually by Will of John E. Smith, Property Passes to College on Death of Widow.

Home of John Everett Smith, corner of Day & Beech streets. Son of Lyman Smith, brother of Anna (Smith) Day, and uncle of Fred Holland Day, John E. Smith was one of the most successful men in South Dedham and early Norwood.

Norwood Man Provided for Many Cash Gifts.

By the will of John Everett Smith of Norwood Tuft’s College will eventually come into possession of property valued approximately at more than $100,000.

The will was allowed in the Norfolk probate court this morning, and although there was no Inventory of the estate as filed today, a bond of $400,000 set for the executors of the will, shows that probably the estate will be valued somewhere In the neighborhood of $200,000. The will provides the gift of $15,000 to the widow, Rosa H. Smith; $2000 for the care of the burial lot at Norwood, $1000 each to John Sagan and Marv Tobln, in appreciation of their faithful services for many years, and several cash gills to relatives.

The household furnishings and the contents of the stable go to the widow, and the use of the homestead is to be hers for life, while the remainder of the property is to be held In trust for the benefit of the widow for life, and then to go to Tufts college, to be known as the John E. Smith fund.

The executors are Austin B. Fletcher of New York and Charles F. Wheelock of Norwood.
