An unarmed holdup man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the McDonald’s Restaurant located at the intersection of Route 1 and Union Street yesterday afternoon after threatening store staff and demanding money from the safe.
Rear Door Entry and Note Demands
According to Norwood police reports, the lone suspect entered the restaurant through a rear service door shortly before 5:00 p.m. and approached the assistant manager. Presenting a threatening note, the intruder ordered the assistant manager to empty the safe.
The assistant manager complied, handing over a cloth bag containing small bills. While the suspect verbally claimed during the holdup that he was not working alone, officers reported that no accomplice was visible outside. Police stated that investigators have not yet determined whether the robber fled the scene on foot or escaped via a waiting getaway vehicle.
