Two Norwood Brothers Rescued From Duxbury Bay After Distress Flares Sighted-September 4, 1970

Quick-action coordination between local police and fire departments successfully rescued two Norwood brothers whose boat became stranded and disabled in Duxbury Bay.

Albert Bonfatti and Christopher Bonfatti of 3 Sylvan Circle, Norwood, were safely towed ashore after launching distress flares that were spotted at 10:35 p.m. between Clark’s Island and High Pines. Police Captain Thomas A. Johnson reported that the police beach buggy was immediately deployed to pinpoint the vessel’s coordinates from the shoreline, enabling the Duxbury Fire Department to dispatch a rescue boat directly to the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the nighttime maritime incident.
