
The 50th anniversary of the granting of the charter of Temple Shaare Tefilah of Norwood will be celebrated on Tuesday evening, June 4, at the Hampton Court Hotel in Brookline. The golden‑year observance will feature the installation of officers for both the Temple’s Brotherhood and Sisterhood, followed by a dinner dance.
Rabbi David B. Alpert will deliver the principal address of the evening.
Installation of Officers
Serving as installing officer will be Malcolm Orent of Norwood.
New Sisterhood officers include:
- Mrs. Herbert Taube, president
- Mrs. Alfred Krouse, first vice president
- Mrs. Norman Cushing, second vice president
- Mrs. Paul Arnstein, corresponding secretary
- Mrs. Philip Rittenberg, recording secretary
- Mrs. Herbert Klein, financial secretary
- Mrs. Max Hershman, treasurer
Board members are Mrs. Earl Burtman and Mrs. Arnold Green.
New Brotherhood officers to be installed are:
- Earl Burtman, president
- Arnold Green, first vice president
- Herbert Taube, second vice president
- Dr. Max Hirsherman, treasurer
- Isadore Bienstock, financial secretary
- William Toll, corresponding secretary
- Paul Arnstein, recording secretary
Committee for the Celebration
The anniversary affair is chaired by Mrs. Alfred Krouse, with Mrs. Morton Blumenthal serving as co‑chairman. Additional committee members include Mr. Orent, Mrs. Daniel Miller, Dr. Ernest Kahn, Jason Denenberg, Mrs. Nathan Kramer, and Mrs. Hubert Gordon.
The event marks a significant milestone for Temple Shaare Tefilah, reflecting five decades of religious, cultural, and community life in Norwood.
