Ora Holman

May 30, 1922-Ora Holman, 183 Walpole st, is the oldest Civil War veteran, having passed his 91st birthday.

He enlisted in the 2d New Hampshire Cavalry, and is a member of the George K. Bird Post, G. A. R., of Norwood, and a past commander of the Charlestown Post. He was one of the soldiers assigned to go on a hunt for Booth at the time that President Lincoln was assassinated and rode through the night covering 100 miles, before he knew what kind of a mission he was on.

Mr. Holman is one of the oldest living teamsters of Boston, having carted nearly all the cement used in the building of the old Boston Theatre.

He is one of four generations that live in the same house. He makes his home with his son, Thomas F. Holman, and in the other part of the house live his grandson, Thomas O. Holman, and his great-grandson, Thomas F, Holman 2d
