A Sturtevant avenue soldier and a brother he had never seen met recently in Naples, Italy. How they met is one of the oddest incidents ever encountered.
The Norwood serviceman is Pvt. Dominic Rondinelli, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rondinelli of 41 Sturtevant avenue.
The Rondinelli family came to this country from Filadelfia, Italy in 1923 and a year-old son Vincent, was left behind with other children. All but Vincent came to this country in 1938. Dominic joined the Italian Army and was captured by the Germans after Italy had surrendered. He entered one camp and started talking to the officer in charge.
The officer couldn’t understand Italian and called for an interpreter. The interpreter was none other than his brother Vincent.
