The Girl Scout leaders of the Callahan School could not have been more pleased as families filled the auditorium for the school’s first‑ever Girl Scout Rally. What began as an experiment — a smaller, more intimate alternative to the large town‑wide rally at the Junior High School — quickly proved to be a warm, spirited success.
The Brownies and Girl Scouts, neatly dressed in their full uniforms, beamed with excitement as they spotted their parents in the audience. Their enthusiasm was unmistakable. One by one, each troop took the stage to perform its part in the evening’s program — ceremonies, skits, badge presentations, and troop demonstrations. The pride on their faces matched the applause from the crowd.
For the leaders, the night exceeded expectations. Many parents commented that they enjoyed this smaller rally even more than the large annual gathering where all Norwood troops participate together. The intimate setting allowed each girl to shine, and the audience to appreciate every performance.
The leaders extended heartfelt thanks to the many families who attended and for the generous applause that encouraged the girls throughout the evening. As the Scouting year drew to a close, one thing was already clear: both the girls and their leaders were brimming with ideas for next year’s rally — and they planned to begin working on it as soon as fall arrived.
The first Callahan School Rally had set a new tradition in motion, one built on community, confidence, and the joy of seeing young Scouts grow into capable, enthusiastic leaders of tomorrow.
