Word has been received here that Lt. Morris Gallant, 24-year-old pilot of a P-51 Mustang fighter plane, “Miss Janice,” has been missing in action since January 8th white on a mission over the Black Sea.
Lt. Gallant, a member of the hard-hitting 367th Fighter Group which had kayoed 480 enemy planes in 10 months of air fighting, destroyed a Focke Wulf 190 over Berlin. He was cited for exceptionally meritorious service in aerial flight over enemy-occupied continental Europe and he is a holder of the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
Lt. Gallant entered the service from Norwood in 1942 and had been overseas for a year. He is a graduate of Williamstown (Vermont) High School and made his home in Norwood with Mrs. Theresa P. O’Brien of 15 Allen Road. He was employed as a color mixer for the Holliston Mills before entering the Air Force.
