A MAGNIFICENT GIFT.
George H. Morrill the Generous Donor.

Last week several rumors were afloat that Norwood was to receive a splendid gift of a nubile library building from one of its leading citizens, but the rumors were so indefinite that we did not give them credence. But now we are in a position to state that it is no longer a rumor, but a fact, and our good townsman and esteemed citizen George H. Morrill Esq., has decided to erect a suitable memorial to his daughter Sarah.

This memorial will take the form of a handsome, durable, and commodious library building which will be a credit to the town and a lasting monument to the generosity of the donor. Land has already been purchased from F. O. Winslow at the corner of Walpole and Beacon streets, adjoining the Congregational Church, and it is proposed to erect a stone structure beautiful in design, and ample in proportion for the future use of Norwood’s citizens as a public library. Plans have not been fully matured yet, but the proposed building will be an ornament to the town, and a fitting memorial to the donor’s daughter, whose death was deeply deplored by all who knew and loved her.
