NORWOOD. July 3— Norwood hopes to excel all its previous efforts in celebration of the Fourth of July. The antique and horrible parade promises to be more than a mile long. In the afternoon there will be a long program of sports and a ball game. In the evening there will be a band concert and display of works. Every feature will be carried out on a grand scale.

The celebration will be paid for entirely by voluntary contributions from citizens. The response to the committee’s appeal has been most generous. The committee, which consist of . and , is with the exception of the last named, made up exactly as was the committee which had charge of the phenomenal celebration two years ago. The were appointed by the . They have had much assistance from the officers and members of the Norwood athletic club and various other societies.

Among features promised for the morning parade are those arranged by the Norwood hook and ladder association, the binderies, Phi Alpha boys’ clubs and paper manufacturing Industries of East Walpole. One feature will introduce a bevy of 20 young girls and nearly 100 people. The parade will start at 7 am.

The sports and ball games will be at Prospect park at 1:30 in the afternoon. The ball game will be between the Norwoods and the Dorchester locals. It will be under the auspices of the Norwood athletic club. The has been engaged for the and evening The display of fireworks will be given on the Everett property, near and Hoyle sts. All the events of the day will be free to the public.
