John Macchi, founder of Macchi Bros. Furniture & Appliance Co. one of the oldest appliance and furniture stores in Norwood and vicinity, has announced his retirement from the furniture business.
Originally the store was located on 58 St. James Avenue, South Norwood. About 15 years ago, due to business expansion, Mr. Macchi built the present large store at 1250 Washington Street, South Norwood.
Mr. Macchi is a past president of the Norwood Chamber of Commerce, served five terms as president of the Norwood Eagles, and for many years was in charge of stocking local brooks and ponds for the Norwood Sportsman’s Association.
Upon his retirement, his son, John A. H. Macchi, will take over the furniture business and will continue his father’s policy of always giving the “utmost in service and guaranteed satisfaction to all customers.’’
