One of the best-known local merchants is Walter S Carter, popular owner of Carter’s Gulf Service, 1865 Washington street, at the corner of Douglass Avenue, Norwood.

In 192G Mr, Carter and Dewcy T Kevo started a gasoline station on a partnership basis, »and at the end of 5 years they closed the station and Mr. Carter opened up on his own, he told the business page reporter.

Mr. Carter features a full line of Good Gulf Products, offers his customers quick courteous service and reasonable prices. Carter’s Gulf Service is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m daily.
