The first Boy Scout Troop in this part of the country and the second to be organized in the whole country was Norwood Troop No. 1 founded by the late Rev. Arthur Howe Pingrcc in 1910 at the time of the inception of the movement in the United States.
Next Sunday, February 12th, at the First Congregational Church, the 29th anniversary of the founding of the troop will be observed at the morning service of worship to be conducted by the minister.
The address which is ordinarily given on this occasion will be delivered by Mr. George C. Clarkc of Pawtucket, who is well known in Norwood through his activities in connection with our Community Chest. As educator, promoter, and one also actively engaged in the promotion of Scouting and other types of activities for young people, Mr. Clarke is well qualified to this service. All members of Norwood Troop No. 1 throughout the years are invited to be special guests of the church upon this occasion.
The service is at eleven o’clock in the First Congregational Church.
