BREAK INTO TOWN LOCKUP

NORWOOD, Dec 24—A disclosure that a prisoner held on a charge of drunkenness was spirited away from the town lockup by unknown persons who broke into the place and battered the lock off a cell door was made today by police.
Edward Martin was arrested by patrolman Edward Murphy early today and was booked at the police station in the municipal building before being taken to the lockup, in
a separate building, about 50 feet away.
Sometime between 12:30 and 3 am. according to police, some one broke two windows on the Central-st side of the lockup and knocked the lock off the cell door.
No one was on duty in the lockup and the break was not discovered until patrolman Murphy went there on a routine checkup at 3 o’clock.
