Couple Honored By Friends And Relatives At Reception Sunday

Beautiful bouquets of flowers, gifts, cards and telegrams were presented with the best wishes and congratulations of their friends to Mr. and Mrs. John P Curran of 290 Nahatan Street, who celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Sunday.
The couple were guests of honor at a reception given for them by their nieces, Mrs. Mary McGee, the Misses Marion and Helen Curran, Mrs. Agnes Hcfferan, Mrs. Catherine Hennessey and Mrs. Isabel Curran. From 3-7 p.m. they received their many friends from Norwood and surrounding towns and among the congratulatory messages was a telegram from Archbishop Richard J Cushing. Large wedding cakes decorated the table and the gathering enjoyed sandwiches, cake and other delicious refreshments.
The couple were married by the Rev Walter Brown at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in South Boston. The bride was the former Margaret Riley, a native of South Boston and she was attended by her sister, Mrs. Mary Sughrue. Mrs. Curran is now 78 years of age. Mr Curran, who was born on Lydon Street 81 years ago, is a lifelong resident of Norwood. In 1928, because of an injury, he retired from his position as a foreman at tl)e Readvillo Car Shops. For 44 years he was employed by the New Haven Railroad, and before going to Readville worked at the Norwood Car Shops.
