With Ralph Brickett given leave to withdraw his application for a license to store gasoline at the location on the corner of Cottage and Central streets, and with the announcement made by Chairman Charles E Houghton at the selectmen’s meeting on Tuesday night that Arthur G. Lewis had purchased the site for the erection of a new restaurant, the possibility of a gas station on the Town Square was definitely eliminated In response to gasoline dealers who vigorously protested the granting of the license and to interested citizens who deplored the gas station proposition as decreasing valuations on the Square, the selectmen had held up the hearing on the application pending other proposals for the use of the land.

Mr Lewis, proprietor of the Brass Rail Restaurant now on the opposite side of the street from the new site, has purchased half of the Cottage-Central street lot. Plans drawn by Harry Korslund, local architect, for the new dining spot which map out a completely modern and up-to-date restaurant
