All Norwood Job Makes Rapid Progress

The new Lutheran Church building being erected on Berwick Place is a piece of construction in which Norwood should take pride for it is an all Norwood job. With Harry J. Korslund as the architect; John Lindblom, the general contractor; T. F. Riley, the heating contractor; Douglas Huntoon, doing the plumbing; Reardon and Carducci, the masonry and plastering, and DeRoma Brothers, the electrical work, the completed structure will represent thoroughly the work of Norwood craftsmen.

The new building in its incomplete form gives ample evidence of the beauty that will dwell in the completed structure. No lovelier setting could be asked than being the Berwick Place common, and the colonial brick church with white trim and spire will add immeasurably to the beauty of the common itself. Seen from across the green park, the church building is a beautiful example of New England beauty.

Simple Interior

The interior of the building deviates from its simple effective New England exterior only to allow open trusses in the ceiling. The large rounded windows are of an amber glass giving a soft light, the walls will be simple and plain, the ceiling will be of wood with the beamed truss work showing. The church auditorium will seat 200, the balcony 75, and the choir 25. There will be room for 50 additional chairs.

The minister’s study opens into the auditorium on the left, and the choir has an entrance on the right with a convenient closet to accommodate music. The basement boasts a generous hall with kitchen, robing room, coat closets and lavatories. It is a model of compact efficiency and suitability to the needs of the church.
