The Norwood Airport is a Municipal Airport in that it is operated for the benefit of the public-and the land on which runways are built is owned by the Town of Norwood. The part of the land now owned by the Town was acquired by a Deed of Gift from the Boston Metropolitan Airport, Inc., in return for a long term Management & Operating Agreement between the Town and the Corporation and the Civil Aeronautics Administration of the U. S. Department of Commerce

The physical plant at present consists of two paved 4,000 feet runways, beacon and beacon tower, taxiways, radio beacon, modernjtghting of the North-South Runway, and constant weather service. The facilities available include an aviation store, storage and line service, repair and overhaul or Inspection of aircraft, helicopter aerial spraying and dusting, aircraft charter nr rental, air taxi service, flight instruction, appraisal and sale of aircraft. These services are, for the most part, furnished by the operator—Wiggins Airways.

At present there are 15 privately owned buildings on the airport including hangers and office buildings, many of which were constructed by Wiggins Airways.

The investment in buildings, machinery, and aircraft represented on the airport is well in excess of $1,000,000.

So Important has this airport become to the southern New England area that the Federal Aeronautics Administration has located permanently at Norwood Airport its headquarters for the district.
