New Kiddie Korner Shop Opened In Norwood


The Kiddie Korner, Norwood’s newest unique enterprise located in the Sports Center Building, held its grand opening Tuesday, August 9, with the new shelves and showcases completely stocked with famous-named brands of items ready for the customer’s pleasure.

One of the main features of the new enterprise is the Save Center Catalogue Department where customers may purchase any well-known item. This department must be seen to be appreciated.

Another pleasing part of the new shop is the Kiddie Koral with rides, etc., specially designed to amuse the little ones while the parents are shopping at leisure.

Once a person enters the store, the children’s clothing items will speak for themselves as the displays are eye-catching and are set up to allow customers to see the merchandise without the aid of clothes, carried by most of the salesperson. The children’s leading stores of Boston, come in all sizes up to 14 in girls wear and 12 in boys apparel.

The shoe department features the famous named brand of Dr. Posner’s Scientific shoes and the Kiddie Korner has a complete stock up to and including size 3.

Another of the intriguing departments in the store is the Child Photography section which will be operated by T. C. Russell, a highly experienced child photographer. Mr. Russell has been very successful in three different child photography enterprises. This department will be able to furnish customers with the best in children’s photography at a top savings. As an opening special, they are giving free a 5 x 7 portrait of any one child in your family.

To add to the already completely furnished store is the Layette Consultant service which will start with pertinent information from the diaper stage up to the proper furnishings of a chllds needs. This department will be managed by Margaret Sieloff of Sharon, a registered Layette consultant. Her qualifications run high in this sort of thing as she worked for two years with a medical doctor, has been affiliated with hospitals doing nursery work and has been employed with such welt known Detroit stores as the Federal Dept. Store and Winklmen’s Dept. Store. She has also taught craftwork to a class of 64 children in Sharon.

The new store is owned and operated- by Herman F. and Murray D. Lippa of Sharon. Herman is well known throughout this area having- been affiliated with Metropolitan Life for several years. He is a graduate of Boston University, class of 1947.

Murray has just recently been discharged from the United States Air Force following a 2-year hitch which took him overseas He graduated from Boston University in 1951.

In operating the Kiddie Korner, the brothers are trying to bring to Norwood the quality of shopping that local customers would otherwise have to travel to Boston to obtain.

The store hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9-5:30 and Thursday and Friday from 9-9 p.m.

Local shoppers are cordially invited to drop in at the Kiddie Korner (entrance at the main door of the Sports Center) and browse around in a cool atmosphere, see wonderful displays of children’s wear, and ask about the fabulous Save Center Catalogue Department.
