Future Norwood Police Chief James M. Murphy was approved as a permanent Police Officer on this day in Norwood history, April 25, 1947.

The Board of Selectmen Tuesday night approved the appointment of James M. Murphy as a permanent patrolman on the police department.

The appointment was recommended by General Manager Edward C. Monahan.

Also, upon the Manager’s recommendation, Louis D’Espinosa was appointed custodian of veterans’ graves for one year. There is no separate salary for this Position.
