Selectmen Agree To See If Priority Can Be Obtained
According to Chief Alonzo N. Earle of the Norwood Fire Department, Norwood public buildings are in good condition with nothing seriously out of line with safety regulations. The Chief made this report following a survey ordered by Norwood, selectmen.
In another communication, Chief Earle urged selectmen to consider the purchase of a ladder truck, cost of which is in the vicinity of $19,000.
Selectmen discussed the advisability of the purchase and ended by asking the manager to apply for a priority to see if it could be obtained. Thereafter, they indicated they will decide on whether to get the truck or not.
It was said at selectmen’s meeting Tuesday night that a certain number of these ladder trucks were being allotted to town’s which needed them, and that materials were available for tho purpose. Selectmen decided to try for the priority and left it in the hands of the General Manager.
