The Gillins case in brief is something like this:

Mr. Gillin, as we all know, lives on Everett street. His children and all others in that vicinity were excluded from the Islington schools, where they had been attending, in May, ’92, by the Norwood school committee, with the understanding with Mr. Gillin that some arrangement would be made whereby they might attend elsewhere.

The Norwood school committee have been urged constantly since that time to school these children. At the last special town meeting, two hundred dollars was put into the school committee’s hands to in some way put these children in the way of obtaining an education.

Two days before this town meeting Patrick J. Mahoney, in behalf of the school committee, brings a criminal complaint vs. Uillin for not complying with the statutes ôi this commonwealth in’ sending his children to school after they had been excluded by the school committee.

This ease stands continued for the present, and Mr. Gillin has retained counsel. At the last meeting of the school committee, it was voted to take no action | as directed by the town in its vote of April 16th, until the fall term.
