New Agreement To Be Effective On September 19
The unusual length of the peat meadow fire brought the problem of pay for call firemen employed in municipal departments before the selectmen at their meeting last Tuesday night. The board voted that these employees should not receive pay both from the municipal departments and the fire department in the future, but should collect only the $1 an hour rate paid by the Fire Department provided they were called away from their jobs for more than one hour.
The first motion made by Selectman John, E. Folan made the change of policy from double pay to the single rate by the Fire Department retroactive and the board
