The meeting of the Norwood zoning board of appeals on July 2, 1985, also touched upon another significant development in the town. William Duggan, owner of Republic Plumbing on Route 1, sought permission to extend the front of his building.
Duggan’s proposal included constructing an enclosed elevator with an inside entrance, as well as adding a second floor on a section of the existing building. The proposed changes were deemed compliant with zoning laws by Charles Gale, president of Gale Engineering Co. of Weymouth.
The discussion surrounding Duggan’s building expansion highlighted the complexities of land development and the need for cooperation between property owners, developers, and regulatory bodies. The meeting served as a reminder that responsible land development was crucial for maintaining the town’s character and ensuring its continued prosperity.
