Peter Makarewicz, 15, was to confer with his counsel today to lay plans for their defense of a charge the youth murdered Geraldine Annese, his 15-year-old neighbor, in what was described as a sex attack.

Peter, his head bowed, pleaded innocent to the murder charge yesterday in nearby Dedham District Court. Under Massachusetts law, no other plea is permissible on a murder charge since all persons so charged must go to trial.

And just about the time he appeared in court. Geraldine Annese was laid to rest in Highland Cemetery.

It was a heart-rending experience for both the Annese and the Makarawicz families whose houses in Norwood are separated only by a vacant lot Mrs Annese collapsed at the grave of her daughter and had to be carried away even before a priest completed the committal prayers In the courtroom.

Mrs. Makare-wicz sobbed quietly but consistently as she heard the judge continue her son’s case to next Monday. She had to be aided by her family from the crowded courtroom after the brief proceedings.

Peter was returned to his Dedham Jail cell where he has been held without bail since his arrest Saturday.

Louis Goldstein of Boston engaged yesterday by the Makarewicz family to defend their son said her will have several conferences with the boy.

Last night Goldstein indicated he will base his defense around the epileptic seizures young Makarewicz was said to suffer occasionally. He said he has been obtaining information about the youth’s medical treatments from pharmacists and witnesses to his seizures.
